Willard E. Schwasinger, 86, of Nampa, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at a Boise hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 1, at Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa.

Willard was born December 21, 1913, in Pleasanton, Nebraska, to Frank and Isabelle (Parrott) Schwasinger. When he was 4 years old, the family moved to Nampa and bought a farm. Willard started work at an early age and took over the farm with his two brothers after his father passed away. He served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer in Africa and southern Europe. He returned from the service and went to work in Alaska for three years before returning to the farm where he has worked and lived since that time.
Willard was an avid fisherman and hunter. In his later years, he always raised a big garden and took great pleasure in sharing his harvest with friends and neighbors.
Willard is survived by two brothers, Melvin and wife, LaVonna Schwasinger of Boise and Ron Schwasinger of Fruitland; a sister, Naomi Lantz and husband, Olaf of Dover, Pennsylvania; and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lawrence and Lyle; and five sisters, Grace, Faye, Erma, Harriett and Louise.
The family would like to express its appreciation to the many nurses, doctors, caretakers and friends who attended our brother and family during this difficult time.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
